Northern Red-Bellied Cooter Turtle Hatchlings (Pseudemys Rubriventris)
*ONLY FOR SCIENTIFIC OR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY*
RESTRICTED STATES: OR, WA, HI
Size: Generally reaches 10-12 inches.
Hatchlings: My preference is to raise hatchlings in a 2x3 container kept outdoors if you live in a tropical place, half shade half sun, with about 1-2 inches of fresh clean water. This should also include 2 or 3 bricks to allow the turtle to rest.
Enclosure: This is an aquatic turtle breed meaning they do better in an outdoor enclosure such as a pond. Once they reach around 4 inches they will be ready to go into a small pond with a barrier.***Bigger is always better***
Diet: They eat Mazuri Aquatic Turtle diet from a young age to make sure they receive all the nutrients needed. These turtles are omnivores and will eat just about anything as hatchlings. Once they are about 4 inches they start to switch to be herbivorous meaning they eat greens.
Handling: Once established at your home, they will reveal themselves when it feeding time by swimming across the enclosure, that's one of the most rewarding feelings as a turtle owner.
